This full length tri wing screwdriver easily removes all the tri wing screws on the Nintendo Wii and the Wii U. The rotating end cap lets you apply the correct amount of pressure to the screw to prevent stripping. It is also compatible with other Nintendo gaming devices such as the Wii nun chuck and Wii mote, the GameCube console and controllers, the Nintendo DS, the DS Lite, Gameboy Advance, and Gameboy Advance SP. Do Stores Like Home Depot or Walmart have screwdrivers with tri wing heads?
We’ve checked all the stores we could think of and not one of them carries a screwdriver with a tri winged tip that will work for small electronic devices. At some of the stores we checked we were able to find security bit sets that contained tri wing bits. The only problem with those sets is that the bits are too large in diameter and too short to reach into the small recessed holes that are found on the small electronic devices that use tri wing screws.
Are there tri wing screwdriver alternatives that are available locally?
There are three methods of improvising this screwdriver that are popular among people who can’t wait a few days for one to arrive in the mail.
- Small flat blade screwdriver
- Modified Phillips screwdriver
- BIC Pen
We have tried all of these methods. Some of them sort of work, some of them don’t work at all. The main problem with all of them is that they have a good chance of stripping out the screw head. Good luck getting the screw out after the screw head is stripped.
The old adage of using the right tool for the job applies well here. Spend a few dollars, wait a few days and save yourself a massive headache.

Disassemble Nintendo hardware for a reasonable price
I’d purchased a tri-wing screwdriver from another manufacturer, and it worked for my Gameboy and original GBA, but was too thick for a GBA SP. The tool sold by nintendoscrewdriver.com seems pretty high quality, and let me take apart the SP. Definitely recommended.

My old triwing from amazon broke (after two uses), and I looked around for a new one. Didn’t see a review for GameCube controllers, so I figured I should write one! Very useful for them old or new. The magnet is big plus for me because it easily sucks the screws out of the deep holes. This is a great company with amazing customer service! I ordered a lens replacement for my Wii and the price was very reasonable and included free shipping. My order was shipped that day and i received the product really fast. I went about replacing the lens and half way into it I broke a major tab that held the power supply.
Arrrrggg my fault but what do i do with the new lens? I emailed the company and explained my situation and asked if I could return the lens. I got a response super fast and told me what I needed to do to return the lens as well as some sympathetic words.
The only thing I had to pay for was the shipping back. I was refunded my cost of the lens.

It Gave My Wii a 1-Up Mushroom
I needed a special screwdriver for my Nintendo Wii and that’s when I found this website. When I received my screwdriver, the first thing I notice is how cushioned the handle feels. Really good in a tough situation
I just got an xbox one and my Wii U had a problem were the left analog stick would scroll downwards but now since I got the nintendo screwdriver I could repair it myself without spending a hundred dollars.

I wouldn’t usually offer to review a product of this type, but between prompt service both in correcting a bad shipping address, quick (free) shipping, and receiving exactly what I ordered, this was a very pleasant experience.
I ordered the Wii Screwdriver set, which includes the two screwdrivers:
1 Tri-Wing size Y0 and 1 Phillips size #000 , while they are inexpensive drivers on their own, they are not poor quality and performed with no issues in dissembling my aging Wii for minor repairs.
Note that these drivers are not easy to source for any reasonable price, and the only alternative is drilling out the screws or otherwise damaging your Wii, so with free shipping you are not loosing anything by buying from NintendoScrewdriver.com.
